These speakers have a special IR sensor in them that works with the Poly Planar MRD60 stereo. When used with other stereos they will function just like normal speakers.

IR wireless remotes are line of sight remotes. These speakers allow you to point the remote at the speakers instead of the stereo to make control changes when using the Poly Planar MRD60 stereo.
