Waterproof design can withstand rain, splashing and hosing down (but not submersion). They are also UV resistant so they will not break down under long exposure to the sun.

Important For Hot Tub Users These speakers are designed to withstand splashing and rain, but not submersion. Submersion will dramatically reduce the life of these speakers. If you have a situation where the speakers are partially submerged when the hot tub is occupied, you should consider reducing the amount of water in your spa.

You get what you pay for. These were installed as OEM in a "high end" hot tub I purchased. After 3 years of minimal use, 3 of the 4 have failed. I am therefore looking for replacements of a little higher quality.
