This stereo will play standard audio CDs and also CDs burned with MP3 files. You can burn a dozen or more standard CDs onto one CD in MP3 format and listen to your music for hours. There is a front USB port for connecting MP3 Players and flash drives and an SD card slot. MP3 files can be played directly from all of these sources. There is also a 3.5 mm input jack on the face of the stereo for connecting the audio from iPods, or any other digital music device. Devices are not recharged while connected

NOTE: This stereo does not have the Apple software necessary for playing music from an iPod or iPhone via the USB connection. Apple devices need to be connected via the 3.5 mm input jack.

This unit is a marine stereo because it has plasticoted circuit boards to protect against corrosion in a humid and/or salt air environment and also is made of UV resistant materials. It is not completely waterproof, however so if you think it will get splashed or rained on you should use a cover to protect it.
